Founded in 1871 as the Cumberland Valley State Normal School, Shippensburg University is a member of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education and school of choice to more than 7,000 students.
At Shippensburg University, everyone is always seen as a whole person. We’re a student-centered university that takes a hands-on approach to supporting all members of the campus family.
We value our community feel. It’s evident from our small class sizes, the passion from our strong alumni network, the personalized attention our students receive and the positive impact we have in our town, state and region. Together, we are a close-knit group of lifelong learners.
We have unique academic offerings that prepare our students for the competitive and ever-changing global job market. Ship is the only state university in Pennsylvania to offer Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and software engineering. We're also the only state university to offer a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in entrepreneurship from our AACSB-accredited John L. Grove College of Business.
We are proud to have one of only eight Bachelor of Science in criminal justice programs in the United States certified by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and one of only three programs in Pennsylvania accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
