COMMUNITY EDUCATION COALITION ANNOUNCES SOFT SKILLS
TRAINING FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Applications are due Sept. 15

CHAMBERSBURG – High School students preparing to earn their first paycheck are encouraged to register for the course, “Skills to Pay the Bills” coming this fall to Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS).

This course is aimed to help students ready themselves for seeking their first job through important soft skills training. Topics to be covered will include time management, appearance and behaviors, communication, enthusiasm and attitude, work ethic and professionalism, teamwork, conflict resolution, turning a negative into a positive and networking. The program will culminate with the students participating in mock interviews with area businesses.

“Area businesses have voiced their concerns regarding the lack of soft skills in young adults entering the job field,” said Robin Harmon, executive director of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation and project coordinator of the Community Education Coalition. “Many of these barriers can be overcome with simple, straight forward training that gives them a solid foundation to start earning a paycheck now as well as prepare them for their future careers.”

Applications for “Skills to Pay the Bills” are available at CASHS from Mr. Michael in Room A100 or in Mrs. Schoenleber’s office and are due on or before Sept. 15. The course will run from Sept. 26 through Nov. 2 from 3 to 4:45 p.m. at CASHS.

The course is offered free of charge thanks to a sponsorship from M&T Bank and a grant from SCPaWorks. The Community Education Coalition was created in 2015 as a workforce development initiative for Franklin County focused on early childhood education, employability and well-being.  For more information go to www.chambersburg.org/ChamberFoundation or contact Harmon at 717-264-7101 ext. 205 or rharmon@chamberburg.org
