FRANKLIN COUNTY, PA – Educators in Franklin County are encouraged to put their imagination and creativity to work and compete for more than $6,000 in Innovative Technology Challenge Grants to utilize in the classroom for grades K-12.

The Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation, an affiliate of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce, offers the grants each year thanks to Educational Improvement Tax Credits through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The grants are available as a result of contributions from area businesses, including M&T Bank and Orrstown Bank.

Applicants will be evaluated based on three key criteria: innovation, value added to curriculum and advanced academics. Applications are available online at Chambersburg.org/ChamberFoundation and due by March 31.

“We had a large number of applicants last year and were able to award five teachers nearly $11,000 in grants.” said Robin Harmon, executive director of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. “This is one of our most important initiatives because it enables us to boost the learning experiences of our local students through innovative technology in the classroom.”

The Chamber Foundation has awarded more than $404,000 in Innovative Technology Grants to local teachers since 1999. Its mission is advancing the free enterprise system through education and by promoting citizenship and leadership. For more information about the grants or the Foundation, contact Harmon at 717-264-7101 ext. 205 or rharmon@chambersburg.org.

Grant recipients will be recognized at an awards luncheon in October.
