CHAMBERSBURG, PA -- Chicken roulade, filet mignon, chocolate crumb truffle and more exquisite dishes paired with superior local wines; Chef Mike Kalathas has prepared an evening of delight for your taste buds on April 21 at The Orchards.

Kalathas is the owner of The Orchards, a high-end restaurant at 1580 Orchard Dr. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has perfected the art of cooking in New York City, Nantucket, California, France and Greece to bring the very best in culinary creations to Chambersburg.

More than 100 guests will enjoy a four-course food and wine pairing during the 5th Annual Sip & Savor: For Your Eyes Only fundraiser presented by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce in April. Attendees will sample food prepared by Chef Kalathas paired with local wines from Tuscarora Mt. Winery, Jan Zell Wines & Ciders and Adams County Winery.

“I’m excited to feature so many unique dishes at this fundraising event,” said Kalathas. “I believe everyone in attendance will love the culinary experience at Sip & Savor. When you pair food with wine something happens in your mouth that changes the way both taste. We’ll talk about each course and educate our guests about why we paired particular wines with different foods.”

This event will showcase food as art and food as science while featuring an elegant James Bond themed evening starting at 5:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, auctions, networking, games, prizes and more. The live and silent auctions will include locally-made gifts, vacation packages, tickets to sporting events, exotic getaways and more! Following the main event, the After Party will feature a live DJ, photo booth and cash bar.

Tickets to Sip & Savor are $95 per person and include a four-course food and wine pairing dinner as well as entrance to the After Party. Complimentary wine will be available. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit Chambersburg.org/Events.

Kalathas is a native of the area and also owns the University Grill, One Bean Espresso Bar and Costa, Inc. He is a second-generation Greek-American and lives in Chambersburg with his wife Laurie and their two children.
