$2,000 in Giveaways to Encourage #ShopSmall on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25

CHAMBERSBURG, PA - Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI) will give away $2,000 on November 25 to encourage people to shop and dine in downtown Chambersburg on Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday, the day after Black Friday and the Saturday before Cyber Monday, encourages shoppers to support small businesses in their communities, like those typically found in downtowns. It began in 2010 when American Express creating the branding to help small businesses gain more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. Small Business Saturday is coordinated locally by DCI with the giveaways sponsored by the Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg.
“It’s the most important time of year for our small businesses, and this event is designed to help our downtown merchants kick-off a strong holiday shopping season,” said Scott Fish, interim director of DCI. “Supporting our local businesses is vital to the progress of downtown, and we invite the community to join us in giving back to them on Small Business Saturday.”
To encourage residents to “Shop Small” downtown, DCI is giving away $2,000 in Downtown Dollars on the Courthouse Plaza beginning at 10 a.m. to shoppers who present a receipt for $25 or more from a downtown business dated November 25, 2017. Upon proof of purchase, the first 161 shoppers will randomly draw a ticket to identify their winnings of either $25 or $10 in Downtown Dollars that can be redeemed at participating merchants. One lucky participant will draw $100 worth of Downtown Dollars.
Downtown Dollars may be used throughout the day on November 26 at 41 participating businesses, including (bolded are DCI Partners): Best Laid Seams, Bistro 71, Black Diamond Tattoo, C&C Coffee Company, Central PA Wireless – Boost Mobile, Chambersburg Heritage Center & Gift Shop, Council for the Arts, The Doh-Nuh T Company, El Gallo Garcia, Fusión, The Foundry, Gardens by Grace, Gartenberg Jewelry, Gearhouse Brewing Company, The Gift Enclosure, Gypsie, Here's Looking at You, J&B Bridals and Tuxedos, J. - A receipt of $25 or more from a downtown Chambersburg business dated November 25, 2017 must be shown for eligibility to participate in the giveaway drawing.
- Downtown businesses are those located in the central core district which reaches North to the Towers at Falling Spring, South to Washington Street, East to Third Street, and West to the Rail Trail (also includes The Doh-Nuh T Co., Roy-Pitz Brewing Co., GearHouse Brewing Co., Nathan Miller Chocolate, Jan Zell Wines & Ciders and Jim’s Farmers Market).
- Giveaways begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. or when all Downtown Dollars have been distributed, whichever comes first.
- Limit one per household.
- Downtown Dollars are valid only at businesses listed on the voucher.
- Downtown Dollars are valid only on November 25, 2017.
- Each Downtown Dollar voucher must be spent at one business; no change will be given for purchases less than the Downtown Dollar amount.
- Downtown Dollars are not redeemable for cash.
- Business owners and employees are not eligible to use Downtown Dollars for purchases from their own business.
