CHAMBERSBURG, PA – More than 1,300 people will gather at Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS) on Saturday, July 13 for Scoop-a-Palooza to sample delicious ice cream and vote for their favorites.

Scoop-a-Palooza, sponsored by ACNB Bank, is an ice cream lover's dream on a hot July day. Ice cream vendors will set up in the CASHS cafeteria with flavors ranging from the traditional vanilla and chocolate to peanut butter overload. The event is the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation’s signature fundraiser and raises money for their educational programming in Franklin County.

Held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., festival goers will enjoy ice cream from Hoover’s Grill & Ice Cream, Meadows Frozen Custard of Chambersburg, Milton Hershey School – Spartan Ice Cream, Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard of Shippensburg, Trickling Springs Creamery and Windy Knoll Farm Market & Creamery. BJ’s Wholesale Club, Giant Foods and Weis Markets will also provide ice cream. Attendees will receive a book of tickets and vote for their favorite ice cream in each of five categories: Best Vanilla, Best Chocolate, Best Fruit, Best Creative Flavor and Kids’ Choice.

“Scoop-a-Palooza is a community favorite, and we are excited to have live entertainment, kids’ activities and of course – an endless supply of ice cream during the event,” said Virginia Harriger, executive director of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. “We appreciate the support of the sponsors, ice cream vendors, volunteers and community members; please join us on July 13!”

Proceeds from the event will support the organization’s leadership and workforce development programs. In addition to the main event, participants will enjoy 104.7 WAYZ Radio Remote sponsored by VerStandig Media, live music by Tresa Paul, Tillie the Clown, face painting, a crane building contest sponsored by Manitowoc Cranes and kids’ activities sponsored by Orrstown Bank. Sue McMurtray of Totem Pole Playhouse will volunteer to be turned into a human sundae with ice cream toppings as part of the Celebrity Sundae contest sponsored by Volvo Construction Equipment.
