HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) is thrilled to announce the relaunch of its Emerging Philanthropists Program (EPP) in 2025, opening new pathways for south central Pennsylvania’s emerging business and community leaders to make a lasting impact in their region.
Since its founding in 2014, EPP has empowered participants to contribute to the community by providing essential resources, guidance and a platform to understand and engage with local philanthropic needs. The program’s redesign aligns with TFEC’s core values of inclusion, stewardship and endurance by preparing emerging leaders to meet the region's needs now and in the future. EPP offers a unique opportunity for those passionate about social responsibility to foster a deeper understanding of community needs while also supporting the development of local philanthropic networks.
"The Emerging Philanthropists Program equips each class with a deep understanding of what it takes to make a difference in our community. EPP provides the connections and tools needed to identify real needs in our region and take meaningful, collaborative action. It’s an incredible opportunity for anyone looking to combine professional growth with a tangible community impact,” highlights Jessica Graybill, TFEC’s Director of Marketing & Communications and a past participant in the program.
As part of TFEC’s mission to inspire giving and build community resilience, EPP has granted over $45,000 to nonprofits in central Pennsylvania addressing issues from education and health to community development. With its newly reimagined structure, EPP now offers a more immersive experience. EPP is free of charge, removing financial barriers for those looking to engage in philanthropy. It features half-day sessions that integrate networking and volunteering opportunities, allowing participants to connect with peers and nonprofit leaders while directly contributing to community betterment.
Jennifer Doyle, President & CEO of TFEC, emphasized the value of the program’s new design: “By integrating hands-on experiences with meaningful connections, we’re equipping each class with the skills and insight to lead community change. Our emerging philanthropists don’t just learn about philanthropy; they become a vital part of it, making connections that will serve them and our region for years.”
The program’s curriculum offers participants the tools to explore questions central to impactful giving: What does it mean to be philanthropic? How do we address the unique needs of our community? In the program’s culminating activity, the class will collectively decide on a priority funding area and allocate a grant to a nonprofit organization, applying the community and grantmaking skills they’ve developed.
