Power of the Purse Fundraiser - The Fund For Women & Girls

The Power of the Purse is the largest fundraising event for The Fund for Women & Girls, a special initiative of TFEC, with the purpose of creating a deeper understanding of a woman’s ability to be philanthropic. We accomplish this through a silent auction fundraiser of purses stuffed with goodies, accompanied by a cash bar and plated luncheon. Proceeds from this silent auction will go towards our Fund for Women & Girls endowment.

This fund supports nonprofit organizations that address issues affecting and involving women and girls. Each year, The Fund for Women & Girls honors local women who are philanthropists through two awards – the Rising Philanthropists Award and the Karen F. Snider Women in Philanthropy Award. These awards celebrate the women who are making a demonstrated impact on our community in issues related to women’s health, education, and economic self-sufficiency.

While the Fund for Women & Girls was established in 2000, the Dream Team was established in 2011 with a goal and purpose of encouraging individuals to make a gift of at least $1,000 to create a permanent $1 million endowment. From the endowment, annual grants are made available to local nonprofit organizations that provide services to women and girls in the South Central PA counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry, and the Dillsburg Area.

Each year, we honor the new Dream Team inductees with special recognition for their support of our goal to broaden the awareness of and respond to issues affecting women and girls today. Join the movement on November 8 at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel and help empower women and girls in our community!
